Our Comments
Each tee box is surrounded by very nice decorative
plantings, hedges, benches, and most importantly at times, shade. An
excellent touch.
Clermont is a good course to practice your swing. It
doesn't require accurate tee shots which eliminates a lot of
frustration. It is long, though, so bring your big club.
The Executive course is an excellent test of irons. There
are also shady spots.
Clermont's owner has a great attitude towards his patrons.
They are sometimes closed on days all other courses are
open. Rain, snow, darkness, or maybe dew can cause Clermont to open
late or close early. Many winter days will find them closed. Call
first if in doubt.
8/12/03 - If you really want
running fairways, try good ole Clermont GC. When your humble editor
can hit a 456yd par 5 in two. Greens, however are more soft -
holding approach shots well - and quite slow.
4/15/03 - Fairways a bit thin this spring. Quite playable
and long-rolling. Greens a bit thick and slower.
5/30/02 - Greens are fuzzy like a new tennis ball - fairly
slow but very consistent - very easy to putt on.
5/16/00 - Smooth, soft greens that roll fairly fast. There
is no distinct fairway as the entire grounds have been cut to about
1". Combined with firm ground, drives will roll all day. Add
wide-open spaces and you can slam away with your driver on 7 of the
nine holes.
4/26/00 - Very smooth but very slow
greens. They also have a lot of grain which makes for interesting
putts. |
