Our Comments

No holes are unduly long for medium-strength hitters but the 590yd par 5 will challenge anyone.

The course is well taken care of by the players. There is no trash; ball marks and divots are fixed; and there are very few cart tracks near the greens.

All the sprinklers are down the middle of the fairways so it's fairly easy to find your yardage.

Cool Lake is similar in concept and feel to Stony Creek GC and Eagle Pines GC.

Holes vary from quite easy (the 273yd par 4 #1) to quite hard (the 590yd par 5 # 5).

This is our favorite place in all the world. Well, at least the 18th hole where your humble IndyGolf editor got a HOLE-IN-ONE!

11/23/03 - The condition of the course was absolutely amazing last week when I played. The crew and the super should be commended. The fairways were striped so perfectly and even though they have just aerified greens, putts were still running smooth and quick. - Josh

7/29/03 - In fine shape with very fast (and smooth) greens.

9/23/02 - The most striking impression is the greenness. Fairways, roughs, all bright spring green and filled with grass. They attribute it to getting the right amount of rain at just the right times. (Up north there has been precipitation). Greens are fast and smooth - watch out for the slopey #3 and #7 greens when the cup is placed tough.

7/15/02 - Very smooth and very fast greens.

4/29/02 - Fairways and greens mown very close. Resilient base for the greens keeps speed below "fast".

9/3/01 - Grass in good shape as always. We were surprised that they ran out of covered carts by 8:30 am on Labor Day.

8/3/00 - Greens are fast with some pockmarks but generally smooth. Fairways and short and lush. Roughs are tall enough to stop balls short but not tall enough to hide them.

9/22/04 - I still believe that this is one of the best courses for the price in the Indy Metro ($14 for 18 walking weekday). Players / maintenance take very good care of the greens. Rough is very hard and sometimes sparse on grass. - Scott Wishart

6/7/04 - Course kept in good condition and a fair price. Rough is spotty and hard. - Scott

3/25/04 - The weekend prices are too high. There are a lot of other places I would rather play for $32.

1/1/04 - Some of the best staff around. You will feel good around them. - Wayde

11/20/03 - The course is in excellent condition. I played one of the best rounds of golf that I have ever played. It must have been due to the lessons that I took from the pro this summer. - Kyle

6/10/02 - The course is in impeccable shape. The best course for the money in the state of Indiana. - Bill

5/24/02 - Nice course. It is in very good shape for all the rain. The food was good and the staff was very friendly.. - Steve

4/27/02 - Nice to see a course in such good shape. It was possible to play the blue tees and still seem fair. The greens were firm and in good condition. Back nine was tough for me, the two holes that drive to carry the water are a challenge to me. It was well worth the drive from the city - Mike Lopez

6/20/01 - Cool Lake is a beautiful course. It is well designed. I enjoy playing there when I can. I love the (no sand trap) concept. Father's Day was backed up due to lack of golf carts. - Steve

The greens make this course. If you love the short game, this is your course.

This is a nice course with good management.

This is a great little course. The people are friendly

It had some of the best greens in the area in 96.
