Our Comments

Matured course. The first 4 are technical holes requiring finesse, course management, and straight shots. The last 5 let you slam away.

Susceptible to dry spells. Greens can go missing in late summer.

Designed such that you are not in danger of being hit by errant balls except on the 3rd fairway, 4th green, and the 6th tee area. Please be careful.

Tee times generally available. Weekday afternoon leagues start about 3:00 on most days. Check before going out. After the leagues, it's popular with people who appreciate a relaxed pace of play.

This is the course we hit for a quick round because it feels like home.

Even though most greens are open and approachable from any direction, strategic trees and the slopes of the greens demand an approach from straight in front of the green.

6/23/03 - Greens are mainly healed but are painfully long and slow. Fairways are OK but spotted with damage. Roughs are admirably short.

5/17/03 - We're happy to report the greens are much better. They've filled in (mostly) and some bare spots around the edges aren't serious problems.

3/18/03 - We're very sad to see the condition at Friendswood. The numerous bare spots on the greens have been filled with gravel.

8/26/02 - Unfortunately the greens have taken a big hit due to the dry, hot summer. Where brown, they are fast, where green, they are slower. Makes for interesting putts.

5/26/02 - The tree harvest is still visible but no longer an impediment. Holes # 2 and 3 are both much easier if you pull the ball left - of course it's also easier to reach the creek if you pull the ball way left. Greens are coming along and are in very good condition now.

4/1/02 - There are still many scars from the tree harvest. They know that the trees missing near the 4th green make that a perilous place for both players on #3 and #4 but it will be some time before the situation is fixed.

7/11/01 - They are letting the creek on #1 and other, more out-of-the-way, places grow to tall grass. Not exactly heather but to the same effect. Good touch.

8/29/01 - Some of the greens are beyond hope for this season. They've even stopped looking for living grass to place the pin on #2.

11/2/04 - Greens were in great shape. No bare spots and were short. Fairways have recovered from added irrigation work and were being mowed. In the past this time of year their greens are long with bare spots. - Mike Cagle

5/30/03 - I shall be back to play again. I recommend the course for those just learning the game. The conditions were good being dry in the low areas and maintained along all fairways. Very nice people. - Frances Benjamin

4/22/03 - Played 9 holes on Easter Sunday after the storms. No one was on the course. The course is looking good, but didn't look like it had been cut in a couple of days. The greens were tall and very very slow. Sarah (owner) has done a great job of getting this course looking good. You can't complain about the price: $10 to ride. I love playing there. - Dustin

4/26/02 - This was a picturesque 9 hole course but the beautiful trees are gone. It has dropped from my places to play list. I asked about lessons from the Pro and was told that they no longer have a Pro.

8/14/01 - Great course for the money. We've been playing every Thursday morning for two months and it never gets old. The fairways vary from wide open to narrow and are well kept. The greens have all been nice except last week #2 green was looking pretty unhealthy. - Brian

3/31/01 - Good shape for this time of year. Played the other day and the greens are quite a bit faster than last year. It is improving everyday.

8/9/00 - Haven't played this course in 20 years, but what a pleasant surprise. Given the recent rain everything is in great shape. This is not the same "goat ranch" that I played 20 years ago. Fairways cut nicely and relatively weed free. Overall a great value for the money.

7/29/00 - Wow, what an improvement since last year. I don't play here very often but from what I remembered last year, this course has made a big improvement since then. Everything seems to be in good shape. Greens are a little slow but still look really nice. Good job!

6/3/99 - This is my second year as a member and I am very pleased with the course this spring. The fairways are in the best shape I have ever seen them and the greens are getting faster - finally! Great course to walk and enjoy both golf and nature. I really enjoyed my round last Friday as I shot under par for the first time (34).
