Our Comments

Steve Miller has bought Grassy Creek and has done lots of work on the course including the addition of irrigation to the par 4s. If you haven't been there since the Don Hill days, it's time to go back.

Like all short courses with small greens, it's easy to over judge the distance and shoot past the hole.

The 6th hole is quite tricky. A targeted drive must go past the point of the dogleg right but not so far as to sit behind a massive tree mid-fairway. The toughest 272yd par 4 you'll ever see.

Good touches like benches at every tee show Steve cares about his customers. Afternoon shade is also available at almost every tee.

Nike dealer with extensive inventory.

This is one executive course without a stigma for using a cart.

Many of the greens are domed or mildly elevated which makes them, effectively, even smaller. Trees and canals are sometimes imposing.

A new outing pavilion was built in 2002.

They hold a 2-person scramble approx. monthly.

9/22/02 - Greens smooth, cut short, and fairly fast. High shots hold perfectly. Running onto the tiny greens is a real challenge - we suggest you go to the air.

6/8/02 - Greens were freshly aerated and slow. Teeboxes are excellent for a par 3s. Fairways are lush and well trimmed but with some ground under repair.

3/6/05 We enjoyed this course so much, that it was like home to us. Especially upon entering the pro shop Steve Miller greeted us by name and welcomed us in his usual friendly manner. Steve did a great job on improving and maintaining the course. He was always willing to help with our game, tips and instructions. We enjoyed the league play, golf scrambles and cook out afterwards. We met and made many good friends at this friendly course. It was exciting when we both got our hole in one, twice. The course is always fun and enjoyable. Steve and his family are wonderful people to know. - The O'Connor's

8/26/03 – The transition of Grassy Creek was immediately apparent once Steve Miller acquired this course, and he continues to pour his heart and soul into it. This par 59 course will allow anyone to get a enjoyable workout on your short game whether you’re the experienced golfer or not, at a great price. A few of the tee bed boxes have been moved back, making you use more clubs in your bag than before. The small greens require accuracy off the tee and if you miss, the thick rough will test your skill in another area. The greens this year are in great shape, cut short and are relatively fast, even after a thunderstorm. The interesting cup placements are sometimes in very challenging spots, which will explore your stroke play. In the ‘old’ days the course held a lot of water on wet days but with all the improvements in drainage, it’s very playable now in just about any place. Steve and his staff are very friendly and helpful. If you’re having trouble with something, Steve is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the game. It’s an enjoyable place that keeps my playing partner and I coming back time after time. - Terry Dodd

8/14/03 - This is a great course for a family outing and for someone just getting started it also is great for your short game. Steve has done and excellent job on the fairways and the greens. The price is great. I'd rather play this course than go to some driving range. Every time I go Steve recognizes me and greets me by name that makes me feel at home.

7/15/03 - I've been playing Grassy Creek at least once a month for the past 5 years. Steve has done an outstanding job of improving the course and the customer service. Played this past weekend and even with all the rain the course was wet but playable. Great place to work on your short game and get in 18 in under 3 hours. - Mike

4/25/03 - Excellent course for experienced golfers to work on their short game also a great course for us less experienced golfers to have fun on and learn about the game at the same time. Steve Miller is a great person and instructor. He is very helpful, especially towards the younger golfers. My son is on his middle school golf team and Steve has helped him make great strides in his golf game in a very short period of time. I recommend Steve highly if you are having problems or just need questions answered. Get out there and try the course. I believe you will keep coming back as I have. - Philip Wilkins

10/22/02 - It looks like things are improving at Grassy Creek. I took a friend here to play his first round of golf and we couldn't have gone anywhere better. For the price and condition, this course is perfect for the first timer or for anyone just looking for a nice relaxing round of golf.

7/8/02 - Course is in decent shape for the lack of rain and heat we've had lately. Greens are a little beaten up in places because people have not fixed their divots. The fairways in very good condition and the tee boxes are fair considering many of the holes are par 3. An enjoyable course to play and work on your short game, regardless if you a seasoned player or just beginning. - T Riley

10/8/01 - Grassy Creek is a short course to play but offers some challenging points. On a few holes there is minimal room for error. You may play it five times and have five completely different scores. Steve really keeps up on the maintenance and grooming. I have been going here for more than 8 years and will do so for years to come. - Aaron Stroup

9/22/01 - Grassy Creek is an excellent course to play if you are just starting out. The greens are well kept and the prices are very good. I usually go about once a week and have a great time there. Steve treats everyone there with kindness. - Adam Spafford

8/30/01 - They are just finishing a bunch of renovations. Did a nice job on the water on the back nine. This is a great course to 'tune-up' your game. Staff and owner are very nice and accommodating, the course is is good shape. Small greens and good variety of holes. You could use almost every club here. - Bob A

8/24/01 - This is a great course. You can easily play this 18 hole executive course in 2.25 hours. What's more, is it is a challenging course. I would strongly recommend it to the seasoned player as-well-as the novice. Steve and the gang at Grassy Creek are some of the most player-friendly people in the business. Give it a shot and see if you can shoot par here. - Mike McCarthy

5/11/01 - Nice little course. Plays fast and the course seems to kept up well. Good place to get in a "quick-nine" over lunch.

2/25/01 - Learn to play before you pay. If you need to work on your game (and we all do) then Grassy Creek is the place to go. Other golf courses cost twice as much. Some say Grassy Creek is easy, go on out and try it for yourself you will leave with more than a 59 (PAR is 59). It is the best place I have found to work on my game and still feed the family. I know this is hard to believe but the people that run the place are friendly. A lot more fun than a driving range. - Steve Turner

7/29/00 - I can usually get on easily without any wait. The fees are reasonable, and Steve has done a great job remodeling the course since he took over. - Chad Crumpler.

7/26/00 - I played this course twice recently. It's lots of fun and the mounded greens can be difficult to stick a shot on. The staff are very courteous and make you feel welcome. All in all, a great golfing experience.

4/17/00 - Bob Evening - I have played this course 8 times in the last 6 weeks. I Love it. You get to practice a lot of shots and the course is always in excellent shape. What a difference a couple of years of decent ownership can make. The staff is always willing to help and they are very friendly. Mr. Miller is even teaching my son to play the game.

11/7/99 - Jim Riley - The Best Kept non-secret of Marion County. Gang, if you want to meet a great staff and have a great time on a small Par 59 course this is it. From teeing of on the first whole with a beautiful tree stuck right in your face to looking at a 245 yard dog left on the back nine you get to have a great deal of fun. Bring your iron and putting game or stay home. I think this is the course that started the saying drive for show and putt for dough. I've played this course 8 times this year and I tell you what you never get tired of it.

8/23/99 - Shaun Fitzpatrick - My brothers and I have played this course about six times in the last four months and I must say that my game has improved a lot. The staff there are great, really friendly, and eager to help out in any way. The course is well maintained and the greens are kept up. You really can't beat the price. If you're a beginner like myself then you will enjoy this course, you will also stay with the game because you can see your improvements every time you play. I always enjoy myself every time I tee off.

5/26/99 - Steve Ragan - swingbrat@email.com - I love to play here. Its a good place for novices. Only qualm is the course gets really wet after a rain and is like that for days. B+ overall.
