7/14/04 - At first appearance it seems innocent
enough. There is not too much water or sand to contend with and it's
relatively flat. However, my scores on this course are never much
better than when I play a Bear Slide or Prairie View. The reason it
simple: it's tight and extremely well manicured. Old trees line
almost every hole and will effect your score more than any sand trap
would. The fairways are near perfect. Extremely short and much
different to hit from than your average public fairways. And then
there are the greens. Always fast and in immaculate shape. This is a
great course that, if you can pipe it straight consistently, is easy
to score on. Start spraying, however, and you're in for a long day.
Great club, great staff and an excellent golf experience. - Jeff

10/25/03 - Great course! Mature trees, immaculate
condition. You had better hit your ball straight or you will almost
be assured of a big number. The greens at Hillcrest are some of the
fastest I have ever played, and where in top condition. The staff
was very friendly and courteous. The new club house is one of the
finest in the area. All in all, a tremendous course and an
outstanding facility that caters to the golfer as well as the
family.
7/2/03 - The entire course was in great shape.
Greens were true and fairways were next to perfect. The best course
I've played all year. Enjoyed the round and we won the tournament! -

4/11/01 - Despite the fact this course is only
around 6600 yards from the back tees, you'd better bring your
straight ball, or you will post a big number. Greens are A-400 bent
and are known to be among the best in the state. Keeping the ball
under the hole is advisable. Course condition is always great,
however, the fairways have been a little moist. Terrific new
clubhouse. Great family club with out the snob-factor found at many
private clubs. |
