Our Comments

Might win the most elegant clubhouse award. The back porch enhances the country club feel.

Friendly staff and not crowded normally.

Built on top of (and thankfully completely hiding) the old Sunblest course. Only the last four holes are near any housing. Expansive.

We must mention the $1.80 bottled 20oz Cokes.

New, peppy carts for 2002.

9/15/04 - Fairways are still a little sparse on the front 9 where it was flooded last year - not a big problem though. Greens are fast and smooth. A+.

10/15/03 - The front nine is open again and River Glen is back in business as a full-time high-end golf course. Enjoy the fall and winter.

9/3/03 - Oops. After the front nine flooded in July, it's happened again in September. The first 5 holes are going to be very tender for the rest of the year and carts will be on paths through there. New, lower, rates for the rest of 2003.

8/21/01 - After a dry spring and hot, dry summer, River Glen is still in top shape. The greens are characteristically firm but not as smooth as they could be. Fast greens that are trimmed short turn moderately bumpy greens into extra putting strokes.

4/7/02 - The course was in good shape for early spring and all the rain we have had over the past couple of weeks.

6/25/01 - The course was in great shape. Greens a little firm but rolled true. Fairways were in excellent condition. Some tee boxes were slightly chewed up, but other wise a very nice course. A very good value as well if you take advantage of the 4-some for $100 deal Mon-Wed before 10am.

8/12/00 - I played River Glen for the first time. The fairways were in nice shape. The greens are so hard that it was very difficult to hold a golf ball on them.

7/17/00 - We had a bad experience at River Glen mostly due to rude golfers but partially due to River Glen. The starter left the first tee around 3:30 on Sunday. Once he left, the foursome in front of us proceeded to play about two balls each and look for every lost shot (and there were many). Pace of play was terrible and no ranger ever came out to investigate or improve the situation. Except for the greens, the course was in good shape. Greens were hard and would not hold a shot. - Dave Mazza

We should advise you late afternoons are more laid back and rangers go home after working since 6am but after paying $31 you don't want to hear excuses. Right? - Editor.

4/12/00 - Joe Wicker -  I played River Glenn two weekends ago and the condition of the fairways was without fault. The greens were the best I've seen there in years, rolling true and faster than normal.

The facilities are first rate, good bar, pro shop, and group facilities for after golf get-together.

The course was in fine shape and a real treat for every skill level.

The fairways were in good shape and the greens held very well. This course was a real pleasure for everyone.

A great location for a company golf outing were you want everyone to enjoy themselves. I'll come back and bring a few friends.

A solid design and an enjoyable course.

The course is generally flat and fairly open - the front encounters a housing development in a few places, but the back is better situated.

The course is very playable - no gimmick holes, no trick shots - just straightforward, fun golf in a pretty setting next to the White River.

A creek comes into play on many holes, and there are strategically placed bunkers, but no major trouble.

Club's Comments

Designed in 1990, River Glen is an 18 hole, par 71, championship golf course. Playing up to 6700 yards, and demanding intelligent and accurate iron play, River Glen will test every level of player. Built along the White River, golfers are challenged by narrow fairways, water hazards, sand bunkers, and tough, undulating greens
