Our Comments

Front half is rolling farmland with plenty of trees for scenery. The back half is shorter and woodier and takes more course management.

The 10th and 18th holes both require an accurate length tee shot to negotiate the corner on severe doglegs.

A class act with very good prices when discounted. One of our favorites.

Stony Creek reminds us a lot of Cool Lake GC. You'll enjoy both.

4/24/07—'ve been coming here for about a year now and I really appreciate the value found at Stony Creek. My love for the game far exceeds my budget for it, but this course makes it possible for me to enjoy private club type amenities on a daily basis. For $15.00 I can hit two buckets at the range, play a round on the par three, and practice chipping, pitching, sand shots, and putting on two well-tended practice greens to my heart's content. The 18 hole championship course is under $20.00 after 4:00pm if you walk. That's quite a bargain for such a nice course. I would recommend Stony Creek to anyone who wants to play a lot but can't afford the club membership. - John

Par 3 course

Mounded, classy short course with undulating, sloped, fast greens. Some greens are severely sloped and a tough putting test.

A+ for marking with brass plaques in every tee box. No benches but nice boulders to sit on at every tee.

It circles the driving range but you don't feel threatened at any time (even though the 4th green is conceivably within errant-shot distance).

5/9/02 - Greens in good shape with few of the inevitable ball marks found on par 3s. Surrounds are young and you can be in clumpy grass just feet from the green.

3/03/05 - I went out to their driving range on Saturday, and it was very soggy (which is understandable). While I was there, I noticed that there was some construction going on. I asked the pro and he told me that there had been some drainage problems so they were making the big lake on #9 larger. Also, the mud pit on the right of #1 is being filled in. I think that those changes are for the better. - Alex

5/12/04 - This course is in excellent condition. The greens were very predictable and smooth. Fairways give golfers plenty of roll. Also, the staff was incredibly friendly. Overall, this is one of the nicest courses in Indy for the money.

8/7/02 - Course was in very good shape, greens especially not marked up and rolling nicely. Much better than some other similarly priced courses I've played recently with unrepaired ball marks. The fairways are still pretty green considering the lack of rain, and are, for the most part, fairly wide and forgiving. This coupled with the large greens makes a good place to practice your approaches. Rough is somewhat dense, but not unplayable. I had not played here for about 2 years and found the course grown in very well and in good shape. Walkable. - John Nixon

7/29/02 - The course I play most often. Not the most difficult, but in consistently good shape. Pretty course, plays pretty quickly. Friendly staff, good snack bar. Plays best from the Blues or Golds. Nice value in Twilight Rates. - Erik Saur

6/11/02 - (Par 3 course) Played Tuesday morning and only had one other party on the course. For a beginner like myself, very good place to get in some practice/experience. They didn't require a tee time. For $7, about the same price as a bucket of balls at the driving range, can't beat it.

10/11/01 - Par 3 - I was so excited to try the new par 3 course at Stony Creek. It was easy to walk on a Sunday afternoon. There was still some work needed on a sand trap but we had a good time. The 3rd hole was a nice challenge with the little valley between the tees and the green and the 7th and 8th holes were drives across the water. The cost was great and the staff is always helpful and friendly.- Linda

9/14/01 - Just wanted everyone to know what a fun course this was. The course was in great shape. Fairways like carpet and the greens rolled smooth and true. This was only my second time to play at this course but I am very impressed with the staff "class act" and the price for the shape of the course.

5/7/01 - Overall conditions on the course were really good, my only complaint is the price. Last year they had a twilight rate of $20 with a cart. This year it is $32 dollars to play after 4 pm on a weekday! We did enjoy our round, but I don't see any real changes in the course to warrant a hike of $10 bucks in the price.

4/20/01 - Fairways rather dry and not very green, not lush but thick enough. Rough was pretty healthy, thick, and just penal enough to cause problems for my mid-handicap game. Greens fast and hard and held nothing (several short irons hit and bounced 6-8 feet high), but most putted fairly true. I expect conditions to get better with more consistent rain and warm weather. The course was still enjoyable to play.

5/27/00 - Played this course with some friends last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. This course is a little gem! Wonderful condition and a GREAT pace of play for a Sunday (4 hours). Only drawback was no alcohol available at the course.

I played this course for the first time last week and enjoyed it very much. Fairways are bent grass and in nice shape. Greens were excellent! VERY NICE course indeed.
