Our Comments

This heavily sculptured course is reminiscent of more expensive "modern" courses at a fraction of the price.

Number 5's green is an upside-down soup bowl. Don't get near the edges.

Active summer junior program.

The yardages here seem a big suspect. Either that or we really hit a couple of 280yd drives and 140yd pitching wedges.

6/19/03 - All grass is in good condition. Greens are moderate speed and die quickly once the ball slows - good to score well on.

4/24/07—Sunrise remains my favorite 9-hole golf course. While it is not particularly impressive in its design, it does offer some clear challenges and high value to the regular guy type golfer. Holes 4, 5, and 7 do require skill to make par. And, hole 9 has a nice elevated tee to hit the ball long. Overall, the course is well-maintained and the staff is friendly. The prices are the lowest in the Indy area and play generally moves along well. I have found that late Friday afternoon is a great time to play this course as the traffic is low and you can often play 2 balls without slowing down too much. As I said, from my point of view this course is a great value. - Pat

7/27/04 - One of my favorite holes is number 7. It is a tricky par 3 where you can drop it in the drink or the stink if you are not careful. Another one of my favorite holes is number 9. It is a short par four with an elevated tee. When you get a slight breeze you can drop one right in the clowns mouth and setup for eagle. - Jason

6/21/04 - Great neighborhood course. It would be perfect with a chipping area, or some short game area. Only putting is allowed on the practice green, and chipping isn't allowed anywhere. One of the better kept driving ranges, albeit when the wind blows it's usually in your face on the range (not that they can control it).

5/12/04 - This course provides great bang for your buck. The 9 holes offer a surprising variety of shot demands; doglegs left, doglegs right, straight but long, straight and uphill, etc. In general I don't like 90 degree doglegs on tree-lined fairways, and unfortunately #5 is just that - there's no strategy involved in playing it. You either hit the proper length to get a clear approach to the green or you're stuck in the trees somewhere. #8 is a great hole - it would fit in perfectly with any top-ranked course in town. I enjoyed playing this course a lot. Conditioning was pretty good, rough was very long and tough. I can see how play would be slow here during busy times, but if you play at the right time you can get around pretty quickly. - John Nixon

4/27/04 - Nice driving range. Fun course. Wouldn't a larger short-game practice area make this course top-notch? Every hole is unique, and a few are pretty tricky.
