Our Comments

5/8/04 - Reworking bunkers to eliminate sparse and weedy spots.

5/14/02 - Most greens are wonderful, soft, ball-hugging, fast, and very breaky. These undulating and rolling greens are tough. There are some scuff marks but they're not what you notice. Fairways are filled. Roughs are kept short except for purposeful gotcha patches. They are putting in a new tee box complex on 3 & 12 that incorporates an interesting pond.

3/28/01 - Greens and fairways mown close and in good early-spring shape. Roughs are shaggy and wild but fair. Greens are very slow with lots of break.

A very challenging course, nay treacherous, that criss-crosses over open farmland and up and down rolling hills through sometimes narrow tree openings. Sometimes wide open and very forgiving, sometimes requiring precise placement of tee shots.

Number 13 is a classic island green at about 115 yds.

Numerous blind shots make it worthwhile to play with a local your first time. Luckily the regular players are all very nice people who welcome company. Hague's courses are always friendly.

7/14/04 - Have the best staggered twilight rates, a great idea. There is a lot of distance between green and tees, so it's great that their low rates include the cart. I've played this course a handful of times and it's consistently been in average condition. Fairways and greens are adequate throughout, some scarce rough and heather make some shots tricky. Some decent water locations make some shots tricky, esp. the par 3 #13 straight over water with no bail out spot. Fairly open course and some new sand has already been added to some bunkers. They really need some fountains in their lakes though, mosquitoes are real bad near dusk, so bring the DEET. Course will make the 9-18 handicapper feel good about themselves if they even play reasonable. I overall like this course and will continue to play. A great course for the price, esp. if you love golf but don't have enough money to get out as often as you would like. - Brandon M.

6/15/04 - Could be a good course if they put some money into it. Tough course if never played before. Very slow greens, not kept up bunkers. If money was put in could be good.

Tameka Woods is in the middle of a bunker renovation project. - Editor.

4/27/04 - If the course where kept up better, it would be a lot more fun to play. The bunkers are not in good condition. My favorite hole is number 13 because you have to hit over a large lake to a small green. - Alex

7/21/03 - I'll have to agree with the last comment (below). The rough were mostly dandelions, crabgrass, etc. There were few markers on the course except for the ones painted on cart path. - Kyle

6/30/03 - I came away very disappointed in the overall condition of the course. The greens were in very bad shape - chunks missing on the outer edges and inconsistent. For instance, the #9 green is very hard while #10 is soft and slow. All in all, this course has a potential to be great. The layout is wonderful. However, it just seems as if the course is missing on some of the details to make it wonderful.

2 more items: The sidehill-lie/undulating tee boxes are a little tough to get used to. Please flatten these out. Finally, please add some distance stakes. - Kookie

9/9/02 - I understand some wear and tear this late in the season plus the dry conditions we have had, but no other course that I have played has been this bad. I will say, the 9th hole is fun. - Rick Hunt

6/11/02 - This is a diamond in the rough (the rough being that it is a little way from most people, but well worth the drive). Played for the first time, and she put it to me. Better watch or have someone watch for you on your shots - easy to lose it if its not in the fairway. Fairways are in good shape. Greens are monsters, better know how to read the breaks because there are plenty of them all over the green. Yeah, 9 is sure a monster -  better lay up unless you're a pro or something. Challenging course. Well worth the drive and price of admission - Shane

8/25/01 - Bentgrass fairways were in horrible shape due to large bare areas from either fungus or wilt. The greens were a different story. They were in great shape, very consistent and had very few unrepaired ballmarks. I felt the $32 for 18 holes and a cart was just a little high for the condition of the course. It has potential, just needs some more help in the maintenance of the fairways and tee boxes. - Brent

6/1/00 - Played the course 6/1 and it's in good shape this year. Some more brush areas have been cleaned out. Greens are relatively quick and small. Ninth hole is about the hardest hole to play in this part of the state (comparable to Pleasant Run's no. 12 in difficulty). Watch out on back nine - dog leg left #14 - drive too far and you're in the woods - not far enough and you're behind a tree line and then the sand-surrounded green slopes off into nothing. 15th hole has a tree in the middle of the fairway - even a great drive is obscured by the tree. One of the nicest par 4 finishing holes around. Friendly staff. Pretty country. - Dr. David Moffett

5/11/00 - A great course to play! The time saved on the course because of the "secret" location made it well worth the 40-minute drive from Indianapolis. As the description of the course states, the ninth hole is one of the more challenging I've ever played. Must have a laser-guided long drive to be able to have a chance of clearing the large pond in front of an elevated green. Hit short on your second shot and the ball rolls into the drink, long and you're in a bunker, and left or right you're O.B. One of the few ridiculously hard holes around that I actually enjoyed getting an 8 on! All in all, the course was in excellent shape and definitely worth the trip! The speedy greens and good fairways were the highlights! - Kevin Koonce

5/6/00 - The weather was awesome so I expected big crowds. As it turns out the course was not crowded in the least bit. Play was fast and enjoyable. The course was in pretty good shape. This seems to be a nice place to play if you want to avoid crowds.

If you stay in the fairway, the turf is just as nice as the $40 courses and don't let the greens fool you, they are as fast as the Legends.

The guys in the pro shop are always courteous and helpful.
