Our Comments

Think of it as a links-style course with trees. There are lots of trees but not much shade as the trees are away from the fairways and aren't generally obstacles.

Each and every green has sand to the front left and the front right but each hole is capable of pitch and run approach to the center of the green - the pin placements can change your plans though. Nine greens have sand in the back as well as both front edges.

Similarly, there is sand or water on the side of each fairway, save one. This obstacle is always a decent drive away and tightens he fairway at that point. There is a great similarity here with the Golf Club of Indiana.

Home of the largest putting green around.

8/10/04 - The Middle tee boxes are back in use this year. Huge greens are in pretty good shape. Practice your looong putts as you'll need to get close from 40ft occasionally. The 13th is the only par 5 that is ever makable in 2 strokes, even for the biggest hitters.

9/9/03 - Was was originally built on an open plain has now grown up to be tree-lined fairways in the classic country club style. Greens are medium fast and hold well.

7/17/01 - In great shape. Played on a busy Sunday morning and marched right through in 4:15.

9/6/00 - Greens are fast and smooth and well protected by sand. Fairways are divot-free and short. Roughs are low and thin. Well maintained as always.

8/11/03 -  What a nice course. Very challenging. Had a foursome that played at 7 am on Saturday. Never had to wait. The fairways, greens and tee boxes were great. Highlight of the day, I made a 40 footer for par on the par 5 #9. Okay, it was a highlight for me. - Dustin Kelso

7/20/03 - No bad lies in the fairways. Starter said roughs were long and greens hard. We found rough to be quite playable and greens receptive. We played in approximately 4 1/2 hours. Could have been quicker but for our errant shots that seemed to come in bunches. Good value for the dollar. One member of the group thought the course was one of the best over-all in central IN combining layout, playability, price and scenery. - John

7/4/03 - Golf course is in great shape. The greens were firm and in better than average shape. I would suggest playing from the black or gold tees. A bit high in my opinion all considering. All in all, a better than average course to play.

6/28/03 - The greens were soft early this year but got a bit marked. They are harder now but smoother.

7/6/02 - Course was in very good shape, some of the tee boxes are a little rough. Sand is supplied why don't people use it? Greens played relatively slow but very fair. The best part of it was a lack of crowds. We played in almost exactly 4 hours. Only complaint would be the use of Armor-All on the carts. clubs were pretty hard to grip after about 7-8 holes. Definitely will play again though. but I will take an extra glove and some wet-naps. - Bryce Lacher

8/2/01 - In pretty good shape. Fairways were well tended to with no brown spots. They were cut fairly high, but still provided for a good lie. The rough was being cut while we were playing (to around 2-3 inches), making it very difficult to find your ball (due to the grass clippings). The clubhouse staff was very polite and considerate. The price is a little high. They have done a lot of landscaping and adding of heather grass. However, the heather serves more of an "aesthetic" purpose, than a hazard.

4/16/01 - Played The Links on Good Friday. It was a beautiful day, and the course was in decent shape. My one big complaint was that the greens were very slow. As big as the greens are at The Links, they really need to be faster. - John Coombs

9/16/00 - Played a scramble with sixteen foursomes. The greens were fast but fair, although a few were a bit bumpy. Most of the fairways were in excellent shape. All in all, a nice course, and the staff did a good job in assisting with the scramble.
