Our Comments

One of our very favorite courses. Hilly and wooded like Martinsville GC but on a more massive scale with raised and protected greens as is today's style. USGA-spec greens and bentgrass fairways allow better lies than older courses can give.

They now have the Quicksilver laser measurement system which gives very detailed yardage to the hole using mirrors embedded in the pins. $5 rental.

In response to requests for a set of tees at about 6000 yards, they have added "Gold" tees which utilize some Burgundy and some Grey tee boxes. This comes in at 5814 yards and we recommend it for all 18+ handicap players. Notably, it normally shortens the 12th hole to eliminate a forced carry through a narrow, wooded opening across a stream.

You really are isolated from the world. Some magnificent views of woods, pastures, and wetlands. Holes # 7, 13, and 15 are favorite vistas.

Wind blowing down (or up) the funnel of the 8th green really affects the high iron approach shot.

12/7/04 - Great course, just when he think you have seen the best view from a tee box, the next hole outdoes the last one. Water everywhere but it is in the coolers. Great staff. It seems the fairways are wide. Well worth the drive to Danville. No comment on the prices, it would start a stampede. Noting negative to report on this course. - Odis Denney

6/15/04 - I played the course on a Wednesday after a very rainy night. The course was in great condition after all that water. Only a few puddles were present in low areas. The greens were surprisingly still firm. The only really bad shot I hit was from a very wet tee box on #7. 18 bucks for 18 holes with a cart on "wild Wednesdays" is quite possibly the best deal in town to play the best course west of Indy. - James P

5/12/04 - The course was in much better condition than usual. Greens were soft, holding and rolling true. Most of the bunkers were playable with just a few still still suffering from the ongoing bunker issues of past years. Fairways and rough were in great condition. Just a beautiful course and one of the most enjoyable to play when maintained nicely.

5/5/04 - Really a nice course and in great shape. You start out on a really neat journey, not just playing golf but seeing nature also. Great price nice staff and a course you look forward to playing again and again.

4/27/04 - My favorite course on the west side. Very challenging and yet playable for the average golfer. A great use of water, sand, and trees. A challenging course with just the right mix of difficulty. The cost is the best deal in town. The staff is helpful and the service exceptional. I'll play as often as I can. - Tony Horman

7/7/03 - Great golf course, pure greens, fairways are in great shape and a very pretty golf course overall. The price is right too, haven't been able to play all 18 at one time yet, but $10 to walk nine is unbeatable for the quality of the golf course. Will be back to play Twin Bridges again soon. - Marc Dashiell

6/10/03 - Course was in very good condition. I noticed an improvement over last year. With improved conditions, challenging layout and current rates this is a must play.

5/27/03 - What a great track for the money. Beautiful views from the tee, excellent fairway conditions, with fast and true greens. Don't let the generous green sizes fool you, if you don't keep it below the hole you are in serious danger of a 3-putt. Absolutely the best value in the area. - Rick

5/23/03 - One of the best I have played in the area. An unbelievable value considering the layout and condition. Greens are almost too challenging, lost 4 shots on lip outs. They hold, but get it in the wrong place and expect a 3-putt (3 putted from 6 feet on #6 because I got above the hole.) The layout is really beautiful, especially considering the central Indiana location. Kind of out of the way, but worth the drive. I will be back. - Dan

5/19/03 - Wow - what a surprise. For the last two years, we have been so disappointed in the condition of this course (had been in wonderful shape prior), however, we were pleasantly surprised with the much improved condition. The fairways, greens and tee boxes were in excellent condition. The sand traps were much improved - still work needed on the 8th hole "sand/mud/grass" traps, but still better than last year. Congrats to the groundskeeper. - Susie

5/2/03 - This course has to be central Indiana's best kept secret. It was one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I have had in years. The course was in great shape, the bentgrass fairways were in near perfect condition and the big greens were challenging and smooth. You could tell the staff at this course pay close attention to the upkeep of their golf course. The price was fantastic, $29.00 to ride on a Friday. You can't beat it especially for the condition of the golf course. I have played much more expensive courses in the area that charge twice that and are not in nearly as good a shape. I will definitely be back many times this summer. - Bob J.

4/22/03 - What an awesome course. For the price, nothing compares. The munis charge between $16 and $21 on weekday, but for $19 you get to play this great course. the fairways were in great shape. The tees and greens were in good shape but still need a little more growing. The over all layout of this course was great, what a great experience. It's worth the drive. - Ron S.

9/21/02 - Fairways in okay shape, greens rough in places. The staff was friendly at least; that was the best part of the course. - Richard Frey

8/20/02 - Sand traps still need to be finished. Whom ever placed cup holes made hard greens a lot harder. Still needs some of the bent grass worked on but, all in all, a good buy for the money. - Gary Pace

8/9/02 - Very magnificent layout with the elevation changes. If they were to put some effort into maintaining this course it would be one of the best around. - Steve

6/26/02 - What we found was puzzling to say the least. Fairways in good shape; rough that was thick, greens very firm with tricky speeds; and then the bunkers. I must say I have never seen a course that had half of the bunkers under repair. Many of them had no sand in them. Those with new sand in them were so soft I felt like I was standing in the Indiana Dunes. - Scott

The rebuilding project on the bunkers has taken over a year. Most near the greens are done and the rest play as ground under repair. - Editor

6/5/02 - Twin Bridges really starting to look good. Still some traps to be worked on, but fairways looking much better and greens running true. Still think this one of best tracks in area. Beware, bring your "A" game and keep it in the fairway, the rough can be brutal.

7/22/01 - Saturday afternoon. 90 degrees and high humidity assured we had the course to ourselves. Our group included 8 - 25 handicappers, and we all had very enjoyable experience. Very impressed with the scenic layout - simply a relaxing nature experience. On hole #8, as we were teeing off, a deer came out of the trees to our left about 200yds. out and ran across the fairway to the right, stopping to size us up before it disappeared again.  - Matt Tebbe

10/2/99 - From an overall layout standpoint, this course is good as it gets in Indiana. The course routing is fantastic, there are some really great golf holes. Visually stunning, except for some occasional views of the landfill in the distance. Make sure you practice on the putting green before you play, these greens have 3-putt written all over them. Very undulating would be an understatement.

There are a couple of places you can see a large embankment through the trees but it doesn't stand out as a landfill. - Ed.

9/15/99 - David Sullivan - Great course--affordable, well-maintained and challenging. Several of the elevated tees reminded me of courses in Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina. We played the gray tees (6500 yards) and had quite a few 200 yard approach shots--just the way it is supposed to be. Play this course whenever you have the chance.

9/12/99 - Dave Hoffert - Thought course was in great shape, greens a little sandy but rolled true, and even held a couple 200 yard iron shots. Would recommend it to everyone, but I like the less crowded fairways there!

8/9/99 - Great experience. Course in very good shape, greens were very fast but very true. Greens were a little hard but I guess that is to be expected with the summer weather. Very fair course. Good mixture of target golf and well as ability to use driver. Price was $36 to walk which was manageable. Will definitely play there again.
